More about the EHF Euro Cup
Last week, the EHF Euro Cup began for the four directly qualified teams for the 2026 European Championship – Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and France. As the tournament continues in March, alongside the other European nations competing for the remaining 20 spots in the championship, Sweden will face Norway twice.
Sweden starts at home, in the newly renovated Avicii Arena in Stockholm. Sweden and Norway have met 116 times over the years, with Sweden holding a clear advantage historically, with 78 wins to Norway's 30. The teams have also met in the last four European Championship finals, including a thriller in Bratislava in 2022 where Sweden made a stunning comeback from a large deficit to win in the final minutes and eventually became European champions. The teams also faced off in the European Championship in Germany earlier this year, where Sweden ultimately took bronze despite a loss to Norway on the way there.
